Back Of A Postcard

Sunday, January 15th, 2012

Most times, the back is just as important as the front for postcards. In some cases, it’s even more important as many times people will give the front two seconds of their attention, and then automatically flip it over to see what the message will be. As a result try to pay as much attention to the back as the front. Giving equal, or as much attention helps expand your brand’s message, and also gives you plenty of room to have a dialogue with the customer.

Before getting started, download a template to follow. With all of the mailing regulations currently enforced it would be horrible if the USPS deemed your design non-acceptable. So be sure to leave 1 1/4″ x 1 1/4″ white space on the upper right hand corner for the postal Indicia. For the address area, be sure to leave a 2×4″ white space on the mailing side for you to inset the address and barcode.

Once your format is determined, you can start designing your card. Below are a few pointers to help you in determining what is most important in understanding what should be conveyed in your design strategy. As you should know, getting the most out of your postcard should be as important as getting to know who and what your target audience is.

1. Include a personalized message from an actual person. This is a great way to connect with your customer on a personal level. By connecting with them on a one-to-one level you are more able to get an introduction and form a relationship with the person. This will prove to be paramount in following up with them.

2. Make it a resource. As with all marketing material, consider what would be the most beneficial aspect to them as a company. Think about important facts, jokes, conversion charts, etc. This will help them in retaining it, and referencing it in the future.

3. Include artwork. Don’t forget to include some piece of artwork that flows easily from the front of the postcard. Including a small piece of information that the reader can easily read will help in retention and memory recall when they’re in need of your service. Something that is always needed when going for conversions.

In conclusion, always try to see what the best solution is for the back of your postcard. The artwork, and information should always be informative and eye-catching.Image Source: http://images.google.com
